Monroe: The Legacy Behind The Leader In Automotive Shocks & Struts

When you look up automotive shocks & struts online, the first name that comes up (and keeps coming up) is Monroe. This company has been around since 1916 and remains the leader in shocks and struts across the country.

The Monroe Company has a rich history that has stood the test of time. In 1916 vehicles had no suspension system, roads were rough and unpaved and tires continually blew out because of the rocky conditions.

August F. Meyer a young mechanic in Monroe, Michigan saw an opportunity and ran with it. He figured that with the high number of flat tires that ocurred on a regular basis, a tire pump was the perfect solution. He established the Brisk Blast Manufacturing Company and was soon putting out over 5, 000 tire pumps every week.

By 1919, Brisk Blast became the Monroe Auto Equipment Company and they came up with the first self-oiled tire pump that had a single barrel. It was only 1919 and this company had sales of over two million dollars a year.

By the 1920s service stations began offering free air and Monroe shifted gears and developed the first Monroe Shock Eliminator in 1926. By 1929, the company developed their first double action shock absorber. In 1938 the company applied its knowledge and expertise in shock absorbers and made them for railroad passenger cars.

By 1951 Monroe was the number one maker of automotive shock absorbers in the world and in 1953, race car driver Bill Vukovich won the Indianapolis 500 with a vehicle that had Monroe shock absorbers.

In the 1960s the company went international and in 1977 joined forces with Tenneco, Inc. Monroe began manufacturing struts in 1980 and in 1991 began its highly successful line of Sensa-Trac shock absorbers and struts.

The company continues its legacy of quality automotive products. For two years in a row it earned the prestigious award br Automotive Technicians as the after market shocks and struts of choice.

Shopping For Mazda Body Kits

Many people enjoy doing things to their cars to personalize them and make them look better. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is with the addition of aftermarket body kits. If you own a Mazda car and want to improve the looks of it to make it look more sporty, you have several choices for shopping for Mazda body kits.

Most cities have shops devoted to customizing cars that offer a wide range of body kits that include ground effects, wings, and other accessories. One advantage to shopping at one of these shops is that many perform installation of the kits for a nominal extra charge and warranty their work.

For those who prefer to do the work themselves, buying your Mazda body kits from a shop may still be the better choice, especially if your knowledge of such things is limited. However, you do have other options including purchasing online.

There are a wide range of websites devoted to offering body kits for all makes and models of cars. Choosing from the available Mazda body kits is as simple as knowing the year and model of your car. You may still have two or three different kits from which to choose. In many cases, you may have the option to order wings and/or other accessories separately so that you can truly personalize your car.

Shopping for Mazda body kits is not really complicated. Most are made of a material similar to fiberglass called duraflex so that they are light weight and easy to handle. Following the instructions that come with them, anyone can install their own body kit to improve the appearance of their car. The hardest part is often choosing exactly which kit from the available options will provide the exact appearance that is desired. Fortunately, most websites and shops offer photos of cars that have the kits installed so that you can make an informed decision.
